All qualified teachers, graduates or other persons who offer to tutor a specialist subject are invited to register for teaching or other educational services. We seek to maintain the high levels of professionalism for which Inspire Education is recommended and to continue the provision of quality tuition.

You are asked to provide two referees, one personal and one professional. If we need more information or an additional referee, then we shall ask you.

Also, in order to comply with government recommendations concerning the protection of children and vulnerable persons, It may also be advised that you apply for an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure ( police check) if you have not had this auctioned through your placed of employment or voluntary work. We can give you more information about this later or you may wish to ask us about how you apply for this certificate of disclosure by ticking the box on the Registration Form.

Opportunities Available

Our main service to the public is the referral of tutors. Most of the tutoring is individual help to pupils  after school or college hours in addition to their work at school or college. Some of this home tutoring can be to help with exam preparation for a limited period, whilst on other occasions, the home tutoring can become long-term support and encouragement.

We are also asked by schools to refer suitable teachers for their full/part-time or supply needs and occasionally a company or language school will approach us for recommendations if a specialist is required for consultancy or tuition. You are asked to specify on the registration form if you are interested in these opportunities besides home tutoring.

There is no obligation to accept any tutoring or teaching opportunity that is offered to you but we ask that’ in order to make your registration worthwhile, you would be willing to be available each week for a minimum of two hours tutoring. Can you please register with us only if you are going to be available for a minimum of six months – although we very much hope that you will be available for a longer period.

Availability of Work

We are regularly asked how much work can be expected once you have registered with us. As each area is subject to different  factors, predictions can be misleading. There are however, some tutors to whom we are able to offer  more assignments than others. Reasons for this may possibly be due to a combinations of factors:

(1) The subject(s) you can offer ( some subjects are requested more frequently

(2)The area in which you live and whether or not you can be mobile as well as available in your own home.

(3)The professional way in which you conduct the assignments, leading to recommendations from clients and from Inspiring Education Tuition Services itself.

(4) Your  reliability and punctuality as a tutor.

Fees and Renumeration

Fees charged to clients – Direct pupils and clients

Inspire Education Tuition Services arranges the fees with each client. The fee charged is inclusive of a  commission fee, which is due to Inspire Education Tuition Services. Our normal commission is 20% of the total fee arranged, payable on each hourly fee or on each assignment.

For the subjects you have indicated you can tutor, we give below the current rates of renumeration – although we are also willing to negotiate additional fees with the clients on your behalf, according to each assignment and the requirements. Also if you travel out from your home some distance, then we aim to negotiate travel expenditure for you. Rates are reviewed annually and we aim for realistic fees which give a worthwhile return to our tutors.

If you wish, once you register with Inspire Education, you may choose to put any other private pupils through our indirect system. If you explain to the parents that you now tutor through Inspire Education we are willing to negotiate the fees for you with them which could be to your advantage.

Payment of Fees to Tutor

Inspire Education operates a simple system of payment. Each tutor is paid directly into their bank account by direct debit either by cheque or PAYE BACS payment on the last working day of the month.

Lesson Appointment Cards

Lesson Appointment Cards are available once you start tutoring, to enable tutors to be professional and business-like with each new client.

Cancellation of Lessons

Our advice is to be professional. State to each new client your terms of business and policy concerning cancellation of lessons. Show them the Lesson Appointment Cards (you will receive these when you start tutoring) and point out to them the words on these concerning cancellations, which state,  “should you need to alter or cancel a lesson please give at least 24 hours notice, or a fee, determined by Inspire  , may have to be charged.”

We  find that tutors who accept short-notice cancellations without disapproval quickly lose pupils and do not become established so easily. Inspire Education cannot become involved in situations where clients fail to keep appointments and if a cancellation fee is requested by the tutor because of the inconvenience caused by the client, then that fee is determined and administered by the tutor, and is due in total to the tutor because of the inconvenience caused by the client, then that fee is determined and administered by the tutor, and is due in total to the tutor without any Inspire Education involvement.

Books and Equipment

We are able to supply books and examination papers upon request for a range of subjects. Tutors must sign resources in out if they decide to use them. All tutors are responsible for their own books and equipment and Inspire Education cannot be asked to recover losses. Should tutors need advice on possible texts or past examination papers it is possible that we could put them in touch with other tutors who are teaching similar subject levels. We also can supply the addresses of examination boards.

Confidentiality

The client’s confidentiality is respected in all circumstances and there must be no contact with a pupil’s school or college unless express permission from the client is given. These are circumstances in which the school is pleased to liaise with the tutor, but it must be the client who gives the directive.
